The Young In Residual Solvent Analyzer can accurately and efficiently detect and quantify residual solvents classified by various regulations, at different levels by utilizing a headspace method.

For pharmacopeial purposes, residual solvents in pharmaceuticals are that are used or produced in the manufacture of drug substances or excipients, or in the preparation of drug products are defined as organic volatile chemicals (OVI’s). In the United States Pharmacopoeia <467> regulates the concentration of toxic solvents levels in the medicine, European Pharmacopoeia also dictates "Identification and control of residual solvents".

In addition, organic residual solvents found in printing inks used for packaging materials for food and drug products are known to be hazardous to human health if ingested and are therefore regulated.
